How I authored 3 volumes in 3 Consecutive years before I turned 36?

My journey in becoming a prolific writer has been accompanied by strong will-power, deep commitment, inborn desire to excel in life and a passion to be stand out in a crowd. Somehow, I have been blessed with abundant energy and enthusiasm since my early childhood. I do not need to brag about myself but I believe you could about it ask to my childhood friends, my high school friends, my elder brother, my thesis advisor and committee members of thesis in my Masters program, my manager at Texas Instruments Inc., and my book publishers viz. Morgan & Claypool Publishers and Business Expert Press Publishers.

To confide with you something, I was not at all a very bright student in early school days. I had flunked in an ‘English Language’ mid-term test examinations by just 1 mark when I was in my fifth grade. I was good at sports though and certainly a good sports champ. It was after I flunked in my English exams that I received a good scolding from my parents and started to concentrate a bit on my studies also along with my passion for sports. Would you have ever imagined that such a dull student who had actually flunked in ‘English Language’ exams could ever become a prolific writer of English [:-)]? I never had a dream about it and I am equally surprised as you are about how I have been able to achieve it. Here, in this blog, I shall make an attempt to share my experience with you.

While most of the friends of my age are happily married and even have kids by now, I am still happy being a single guy and always ready to mingle [:-)]. It is just that I have been driven by different goals in life. At a young age of 35, when I have become an author of 3 volumes, I believe that I have a capacity to influence many youths like me. After my layoff from a job with my previous employer back in 2014, I had the opportunity find a stable job and continue my corporate career. Instead, I chose to test my entrepreneurship skills as timing could not have been better. I had recently secured US Permanent residency in extra-ordinary individuals’ category (EB-1), which in itself was a surprise to even my lawyer who had filed my petition [:-)]. She was so happy that she had also requested me to come and talk about my experience on local radio station in Dallas after I had secured my Permanent Residency for United States…which I did happily so.

There were two reasons for me seek that experience, firstly, I wanted to first hand face the challenges that small businesses and entrepreneurs face to start a new business. Having that experience would help me draft solutions to such problems. Secondly, I also wanted to retain the Intellectual Property rights of my upcoming first volume entitled “Mass Capitalism: A Blueprint for Economic Revival”. As an entrepreneur, I met the SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) chapter mentors in Orange County, CA.  Orange County, CA has the best SCORE chapters in entire United States and this mentoring did help me as a professional engineer understand business, sales and marketing as well as learn the basics of building up a business as an entrepreneur. All this time, I was also working on my first volume and wanted to complete my volume in such a way that it was thorough, well written, professionally edited, proofread and one of the unique books which covers economic reforms and technological progress. I also was able to get Dr. Rajani Kanth, a visiting fellow at Harvard University to author a Foreword for my very first volume. I was also able to get the semiconductor industry’s legendary author Dr. Stanley Wolf to author the BLURB for back cover of Mass Capitalism.

Finally, on 17 October 2014, I had a book launch for my first volume “Mass Capitalism: A Blueprint for Economic Revival” at San Juan Capistrano Library.  It was a good book launch for a local author with live music and good food. You can read more about this event http://www.ocregister.com/articles/library-639225-friends-bookstore.html.

One of the book reviewers for my first volume Mass Capitalism, Dr. Kris Iniewski also was a series editor with Morgan & Claypool Publishers and had greatly admired my work and also provided a good review for my volume. It was Kris who introduced me to Morgan & Claypool Publishers in early 2015. Although the original proposal of Morgan & Claypool Publishers was to make a volume that focuses purely on tech industry reforms and avoid proposals about socio-economic and financial industry policies that I had put forth in my Mass Capitalism, I wanted my second book to be unique one as well. In my first volume, I covered a chapter explaining the bright future of Moore’s Law. I wanted to dedicate my entire second volume towards solutions for sustaining that progress but also include solutions to envision the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution which would ushering the fourth industrial revolution in global economy.

I had put forth an innovative business model for global semiconductor industry in my first volume Mass Capitalism (2014), in my second volume entitled “Sustaining Moore’s Law: Uncertainty Leading to a Certainty of IoT Revolution”, I put forth an innovative business model for ushering the IoT Revolution to ensure that this progress is sustainable. Finally, on 22nd September 2015, I released my second volume Sustaining Moore’s Law. I was glad that Dr. Ravi Batra authored a Foreword for my second volume. While my first volume offered solutions for the revival of global economy in order to sustain the progress of knowledge based economy, my second volume offered solutions for ushering Industry 4.0 revolution in United States and global economy.

After completing my second volume, I got a chance to meet a gentleman (Mir Anwar Hossein) at our residence in India. He used to go door to door in order to sell very pretty hand-crafted products from his village that my mother has been using for over 15 years. He comes from a very poor background and is technologically illiterate. I offered him a suggestion to help his business grow through e-commerce platform. Having understood the solutions that are needed for a future economy and how much I can put my theoretical ideas into practice, I ventured into e-commerce business Calcutta Handicraft to make some real contributions towards economic growth and eliminating poverty in rural idea. Today, we help several hundred households which manufacture export-quality Home Décor handicraft products for Calcutta Handicraft. I am very thankful to the developer of my personal blog https://apekmulay.com/ who had suggested me this idea of e-commerce business in early 2015. We are so confident about quality of our products that we are the first e-commerce business to offer a guaranteed replacement of products within 5 years of use by our customers.

Setting up a new e-commerce business was also a very challenging but enriching managerial and entrepreneurial experience. I had to supervise that our supply chains are efficient, our deliveries are timely and cost-effective for our customers, our inventory management is perfect, our product quality is not compromised, our product photo shoot with professional models is elegant, our custom fit tailoring is able to keep up with the work load, and we meet all the legal requirements for state and country where we operate. Additionally, I had to explain the importance of collaboration to my team members. As I was putting into practice all the ideas in my two volumes, I always spared time to understand the developments happening in global economy and particularly in the semiconductor industry. I had forecasted back in 2014 that Semiconductor Industry is going to be in a deep crisis without macroeconomic reforms that I had proposed in Mass Capitalism and I am not happy that in spite of my repeated warnings, Semiconductor Industry has ignored my forecasts and found itself in consecutive years of negative growth. In early 2016, as I was researching on the proposed More-than-Moore and Beyond Moore drivers for growth of semiconductor industry. One thing that I observed is that the proposed drivers lacked any suggestion as to how they would be able to sustain the growth when there I a falling economic demand. Hence, I decided on authoring my third volume about More-than-Moore and Beyond Moore with Morgan & Claypool publishers. In this volume, I have come up with new suggestions and new business model for sustaining the progress of semiconductor industry with More-than-Moore and Beyond Moore drivers. Although Morgan & Claypool publishers liked my volume, they found it to be more suited to a business publication than a technical publication and I am very glad that they referred me to Business Expert Press publications.

The review of the first draft of my book with Business Expert Press was fairly critical and the suggestion was to bring a co-author on economics as the book was considered critical for economy as well as for technological growth. A few new ideas such as productive use of technology, continuing the deflationary impact of progress of Moore’s law on National Debt, etc. were very much admired by the reviewing team. I also wanted to be a sole author for my third volume as well and hence I worked on their suggestion very productively and was extremely glad to have met their requirements so swiftly. The title of my upcoming volume with Business Expert Press is “How the Information Revolution remade Business, and the Economy: A Roadmap for Progress of the Semiconductor Industry with More-than-Moore and Beyond Moore”. The foreword for my third volume is by Dr. Stephen Willis author of “Power through Collaboration” as my book heavily makes use of collaborative economics.

I am extremely glad that I have finished my third volume just in time as Business Experts Press takes up to 4 months for production which will have my e-book available by November 2016 and paperback by December 2016. I am extremely proud of my achievement of authoring 3 volumes in three consecutive years 2014, 2015 and 2016. Such a clean sweep would not have been possible without blessing of the almighty, self-driven passion and commitment and support from loved ones. Yes, Now I can sit back and relax to enjoy the fruits of my hard work. As my 36th Birthday arrives, I am going to make promise to my mother to certainly get married now as it seems she is much more interested in my playing with grand kids [:-)] sooner. Yes, I have to fulfill that obligation too towards my parents.

To all those who are flunking in your school examinations today and are facing frustrations in your academic life, I have been through it and just be positive as you never know what future waits for you. Just never give up on your dreams!!!
